Day 01 : Arrival in Vietnam
Upon arrival, make your way through immigration, customs and collect your luggage. At the arrival hall a representative will be waiting to transfer you the rail way station.
With its elegant carriages, the Victoria Express Train recalls a bygone age. Passing through the exotic landscapes of North Vietnam, it offers every visitor a wonderful travelling experience. An 8.5-hour trip from Hanoi to Lao Cai, the superior cabins have four berths and are great for families. Bottom line: kid’s love trains! And they will love zipping through the countryside, pointing out villages, livestock and historic sites as they go. Overnight at Victoria Express Train
Day 02 : Visiting Sapa
Today you will arrive in Sapa and your family holiday begins for real! Upon arrival at the train station, you will be taken by private car to your hotel.
Set amongst Sapa’s pristine environment and the unparalleled scenery of Mount Fansipan, the Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa is the only luxury hotel in north-western Vietnam. Day 03: Nam Cang Village Tour, Sapa
This morning you will be transferred to Nam Cang Village. Located 35km from Sapa, you will see beautiful landscapes on the way such as the Muong Hoa valley, picturesque views of mountains, endless rice terraces, waterfalls and Hill tribe villages.
Upon arrival, you will start your adventure by hiking near the Nam Nhiu village to the Blue H’mong village of Nam Than. The walk is then downhill until you reach the remote Red Dao minority village of Nam Cang. Lunch will be served at Nam Cang Riverside Lodge, situated a few meters from the river. Located in one of the most remote areas of Sapa, the Red Dao women wear some of the most colorful and diverse costumes of all Vietnam’s ethnic groups. Accompanied by your guide, you will explore the village and learn how the local villagers make writing paper, jewelry and embroidery. Overnight at Victoria Hotel and Resort
Day 04: Hiking in Sa Xeng, Sapa
After breakfast, you will embark on a rambling hike to a village of Black H’mong people. This village is located in a pretty valley where you will experience how the locals set up their homes surrounded by rice and corn farms. The trip continues uphill with small rocky trail which will bring you closer to the lush bamboo forest. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a beautiful grassy spot, overlooking the valley of Muong Hoa.
Your hike in the afternoon will pass through a small hamlet of H’mong people in Hau Thao communal. Here you will have chance to visit local houses and learn more about their culture and how rice and corn crops are cultivated. The last part of the trip will offer an easy walk in between villages and rice terraces. Your trip will end with a pick-up by car at the main road for the transfer back to the hotel.
After checking out of your hotel, your driver will transfer you to Lao Cai railway Station, in time for your onward train to Hanoi. Overnight at Victoria Express Train
Day 05: Walking Tour of Hanoi
Upon arrival at Hanoi Station, a Lightfoot Travel representative will be waiting for you on the platform for your private transfer to the Sofitel Metropole. Dating back to 1900s, the Sofitel Metropole has seen Hanoi through the ages, offering all its distinguished travellers the warmth of Vietnamese hospitality in luxurious European quarters.
After some downtime in the hotel, you will visit the Temple of Literature, built in 1076. Afterwards, you will experience the famous Vietnamese traditional water puppet show – something that has proven to be quite hilarious for the kids! Then, start a street food walking tour to the old quarter of Hanoi along the perimeter of the market; dozens of street hawkers sell a staggering variety of produce from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Your guide will give you an insight into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture including details on ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes, and the kids can pick and choose the food they wish (or dare!) to try. Day 06: Lagoon Explorer Cruise, Halong Bay
This morning you will be transferred to the seaplane departure terminal, to continue your journey to your next destination, Halong Bay.
Ha Long Bay is a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Area and features the world’s largest marine limestone ‘karts’ landscape. On arrival you will board your boat; a wooden junk built modeling the old Vietnamese court vessels. The Lagoon Explorer features the state of the art design in safety and luxury and represents Vietnamese and Oriental culture at its best. The ship has 04 spaciously-designed private cabins, boasting deluxe bathrooms and panoramic balconies.
After check-in, you will have a lunch while the boat cruises towards South East Halong Bay, passing by Finger Islet, and Frog Islet. Arrive to Dark and Bright Lagoon and visit the area by rowing boat or kayak. Later, you will return to the main boat for swimming in the area, relaxing on deck and enjoying the sunset.
In the evening you can participate in a cooking demonstration ( if you wish ), followed by traditional Vietnamese dinner.
Day 07: Cruising into Bai Tu Long Bay
For early risers: The summer sunrise is about 6:00 AM; Winter sunrise is about 6:30 AM (Ask your captain for better information on the day). Otherwise, you can remain in your cabin until the breakfast time.
08:00 - The engine is started and get ready for the second day.
08:15 - Breakfast is served while you are cruising further to Rang Dua area and Ngon Tay Islet. Turning around to Lan Ha Bay for the rest of the morning. The boat will stop by Ba Trai Dao beaches for you to take the swim before lunch.
12:30 - Lunch is served aboard.
13:30 - Heading to Viet Hai dock where you will embark on a scenic cycling ride into a part of Cat Ba National Park, visit Viet Hai village, the only one community allowed to stay in the park area. Get some local interactions with the assistance of your guide and learn about the local life. Ride back to the boat and head to the night place in Lan Ha Bay. Take more swim at sunset if the weather permits.
18:30 - Enjoy set-menu dinner and spend the second night on the junk.
Day 08: Halong bay – Lan Ha bay – Catba island – Hanoi ( Breakfast, Lunch included )

08:30 - The junk will meandering in between the sheer cliffs of Lan Ha Bay toward Monkey Island whose beach is sandy and ideal for the last swim. Here, the guide will hike you up to a viewpoint on the mountain where you can get a beautiful bird-view from the high.
10:30 - Check out of your cabin. Start cruising back toward the wharf while an early lunch is served.
11:30 - Bid farewell to the crews and disembark. Drive back to Hanoi.
15:30 - Arrive at your hotel in Hanoi. End of our service.
